Pop Century
The Pop Century resort is one of Walt Disney World’s four “value” resorts. It is located on the eastern side of the complex, near I-4. The value resorts are less expensive than the other Disney resorts and have fewer amenities, most notably in the service area. Even so, they are very unique and are quite different from what you will find outside Walt Disney World.
Pop Century is broken into five different sections, each representing a 20th Century decade. The sections are: 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. The rooms are decorated based on the theme. The outside of the sections are adorned with bright and big reminders of what section you are in, including bowling pins, yo-yos, cassette tapes, Rubix Cubes, and cell phones.
Classic Hall serves as the main lobby area. It is home to the registration desks, the Fast Forward Arcade, the Everythign Pop store, the Classic Concoctions bar, and the Everything Pop Food Court.
The existing sections of Pop Century are referred to as the Classic Years. On the western side of the resort is Hourglass Lake, which has a bridge across it called Generation Gap Bridge. On the western side of the lake is the location for the second part of the Pop Century resort. It is called the Legendary Years, and will be a resort just like the current one, but spanning the 1900s to the 1940s. This project has been on hold for a few years now and it is uncertain when, and if, the Legendary Years will be completed.
