Space Mountain
Space Mountain in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom is one of the three “mountains” that define the park. Along with Splash Mountain, this is the most famous and celebrated of Magic Kingdom’s attractions. This is not for the faint of heart. You must be 44 inches tall to ride and children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult. The ride only lasts for about 2 minutes and 45 seconds, but its either way too long or not nearly long enough, depending on your perspective. We suppose that’s what makes a great ride. This is a roller coaster in the dark, going up and down a steel indoor frame and making numerous quick drops and sharp turns. There are no inversions and no long drops. This combination, together with the dark, make this ride a true thrill. It is not as extreme as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios or Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom, but it shakes and rattles you more. There are two lines, one of which is dedicated to FASTPASS users. There are two attached cars, each holding three people (total of 6 seats). Cars are released in 21 second intervals. The cars never travel faster than 26 miles per hour, but it sure does feel like it. Space Mountain is located at the back of Tomorrowland, behind Rockettower Plaza and on the other side of the Walt Disney World railroad tracks (which go through it). It is at the exact opposite end of the park from Splash Mountain.
