Eguides: Walt Disney World

Main Street

Main Street U.S.A. is probably the Magic Kingdom’s most recognizable land. It begins with the Walt Disney World Railroad Station that greets guests at the Magic Kingdom entrance and ends at the steps of Cinderella Castle. In between are some of the most unique shops, some of the best food, and some of the most enjoyable entertainment at Walt Disney World.

You enjoy traditional American dining at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant or The Plaza Restaurant. You can grab a hot dog at Casey’s Corner, an ice cream cone at The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, or baked treats at the Main Street Bakery. You can eat with Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore at The Crystal Palace, and find just about any type of candy imaginable at the Main Street Confectionary.

Shopping abounds at the Main Street Emporium, Disney Clothiers, Hall of Champions, Crystal Arts and Uptown Jewelers. In addition, great Disney artwork can be obtained at the Main Street Cinema.

Main Street U.S.A. is home to every parade at the Magic Kingdom, including perhaps most notably the Christmas Day Parade. Many of the best places to view parades and the Wishes fireworks presentation are on Main Street.
Perhaps the best part of Main Street U.S.A. are the live performances and character greetings. Bands, street performers, and characters are almost always present here. If you like to people watch, Main Street is the place. There may not be a more enjoyable sight in all of Walt Disney World than seeing the look on the faces of young children as they enter into Town Square and see Cinderella Castle for the first time. Almost immediately after, they will see a character like Minnie Mouse or Pluto and the joy will be amazing.

Disney claims that Dreams Come True at Walt Disney World. While at times that seems a little ridiculous, spending just a couple of minutes on Main Street U.S.A. watching others will verify to you that Disney’s claims are absolutely true. The Magic Kingdom is the Happiest Place on Earth, and Main Street U.S.A. is where the joy begins.
