Haunted Mansion
The Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square at the Magic Kingdom is the focal point in Walt Disney World of ghosts, goblins, skeletons, and other ghoulish things. It is the inspiration behind the movie starring Eddie Murphy. The waiting line moves fairly slowly, but take notice of the sights. The gravestones to the left are quite funny, as are many other items you can see while waiting. Once inside the mansion, you enter a room with about fifty other guests. This pre-show lasts roughly two minutes and fifteen seconds. During it, you might notice the room is changing. Pay particular attention to the portraits on the walls, both at the beginning of the pre-show and at the end. After the pre-show, you will enter the loading area, where you step into a “buggy.” The buggy takes you on a seven minute thirty second tour of various scenes and rooms depicting various forms of being dead. Again, pay attention to the detail. This attraction is designed to be humorous and there are many parts of the scenes that are just that.
The ride is on a continuous track and maintains the same speed at all times. It goes up hills and around corners, but it is at slow speed. Virtually anyone should be able to ride the ride part without problems. The buggies fit two adults each. The ride is very dark throughout. As for content, young children may be frightened by the sights. Those who are opposed to dealing with ghosts, skeletons, and the like should definitely avoid this attraction.
