Splash Mountain

Splash Mountain in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom is one of two Magic Kingdom super headliner attractions, along with Space Mountain in Tomorrowland.  This is a classic Disney attraction that tells the story of the Song of the South as you ride a boat in, around, and through the mountain.  Oh yes, and after making it to the top, you plunge five stories into the briar patch at the bottom.  If you are not too worried about the upcoming drop, or the smaller drops that occur throughout, you can enjoy the amazing workmanship of the scenes.  You just might also start to hum “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.”  Inside the mountain you will see Br’er Bear, Br’er Fox and Br’er Rabbit, along with over 100 of their closest audio-animatronic friends.  The big drop occurs roughly three-fourths of the way through the ride.  Those sitting on the right side of the boat have the real potential to get soaked in this process.  The big soaking potential is not from the drop, although sometimes that can get you, but instead it is from sitting to the side below the drop, after you have done it and have gone around the briar patch, and having the waterfall hit you.  The entrance to Splash Mountain is located between the mountain itself and Big Thunder Mountain, underneath the Frontierland Railroad Station.  The line wanders quite a bit both outside and then inside.  This is definitely a ride to do early or use FASTPASS.  If you think about it, take a peak at the view from the top of the mountain just before the drop.  It is beautiful, especially at night.  The height requirement is 40 inches and children under 7 should be accompanied by an adult.  There are general health warnings also.  While this is a great attraction, it is still one to be careful with if you have young children or are concerned about your health.  After finishing the ride, you are led through an exit area where there are restrooms, a store, and a PhotoPass ordering counter.
