It’s A Small World
It’s A Small World in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom is one of a handful of old-time Disney classics at the Magic Kingdom. It was originally tried out at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York. Walt Disney loved it and it moved to Southern California and soon after Central Florida. This attraction is cute, calm, and often a nice respite from the hassle of other areas at the park. It is fully contained inside a large building at the back of the Magic Kingdom. It is across the promenade from Peter Pan’s Flight and near the entrance to Liberty Square.
The line works its way down into the boat area and tends to move fast. The boats can each hold 12 to 18 people and the ride loads continuously. The boats have six rows of seats, each holding 2 to 3 adults. After leaving the loading area, you enter the world of cute little dolls singing one consistent song. Once this song enters your head, it is quite hard to get out. Virtually every part of Earth is represented in one of the rooms, including Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, the Pacific Islands, and others.
This ride is good for just about anyone, as it shouldn’t scare the young ones and is pretty comfortable for the elderly ones. Of course, for some that means it is too tame. That is up to each person to decide for themselves. As you ride, try to notice the precision of the dolls and settings.
