Pirates of the Caribbean
The Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom is one of Disney’s oldest classics. It has been around since the beginning and has undergone relatively few changes. The fame from the attraction spurred the creation and release and the Disney hit movie series “The Pirates of the Caribbean.” Since those releases, the attraction has had a little bit of updating, most particularly the addition of Captain Jack Sparrow. The ride itself is housed in a large building. You enter and walk for what seems like a long ways (if the line is not outside). The line wanders through dark corridors and comes out at the boarding area. You step into your boat and embark on your trip. The boats have six rows of bench seats, and each seat holds roughly three adults. The ride is very dark throughout, which might frighten some small children. There is one very small drop near the beginning and the rest of the ride is fairly smooth. While the ride has been updated, there are still numerous images of drunken audio-animatronics. The scenes reflect an era when morality was not at its highest. As you exit you enter the shop where you can purchase all kinds of “Pirates” merchandise.
