American Adventure
The American Adventure is located on the second floor of the main building at The American Adventure. You enter the attraction through an entrance on the lower level of the building and wait in the lobby. The actual entrance is on the right side in the corner, near the entrance to the American Heritage Gallery. If you are waiting and want to be among the first to enter the theater, wait near this area. Once they remove the rope and let guests enter, you will proceed up an incredible set of escalators and stairs. On the walls and ceiling in this hall are a sampling of American flags, from the earliest version to the current day flag. You then reach the top and turn to the left, going through the second floor of the lobby area and then entering another hallway. From there you enter the theater, which is decorated with red seats, a red-based carpet, white pillars and statues of famous Americans along the walls, and a large red curtain across the stage. The show itself begins with Ben Franklin and Mark Twain providing narration, as they do throughout the presentation. There is a video history of the founding of the United States, Franklin talking with Thomas Jefferson as he writes the Declaration of Independence, a section on the Civil War, Indian relations, women’s suffrage, Theodore Roosevelt, the Wright brothers, World War II, John F. Kennedy, and the 200th anniversary of the United States. The presentation ends with Franklin and Twain in the torch of the Statue of Liberty and the walls opening up on the sides to reveal a beautiful starry blue background, illuminating the statues. This is a presentation you don’t want to miss.
